A Classic Reimagined: Chicken Kiev at The Parlour Room

This summer at The Parlour Room, we’re revisiting the classics—with a little culinary storytelling along the way. On our seasonal menu, you’ll find Chicken Kiev, a dish as rich in history as it is in flavor.

Delicate, decadent, and deeply nostalgic, Chicken Kiev is an iconic preparation: crisp, golden-breaded chicken encasing a molten core of herb-infused butter. When you cut into it, the warm, fragrant filling spills onto the plate—simple, elegant, and undeniably satisfying.

Though the origin of Chicken Kiev is still debated, one of the earliest versions of the dish dates back to 1818, when legendary French chef Antonin Carême is believed to have created a version of it for Tsar Alexander I of Russia. Over the centuries, the recipe traveled and transformed, claimed by chefs in Ukraine, Russia, and France, with each iteration reflecting the culinary influences of its time.

At The Parlour Room, our take honors the traditional preparation while bringing a modern balance of flavor and finesse to the plate—elevated enough for a Midtown dinner, yet comforting enough to feel like something passed down from generations.

It’s a dish that feels both timeless and timely—a perfect fit for summer nights spent savoring good food, good company, and the kind of dishes that never go out of style.

Join us at The Parlour Room this season and taste a true classic, beautifully reimagined.
